Lankaran district is famous for tasty and aromatic tea, tea grown in Lankaran is known far beyond the borders of Azerbaijan, it is often compared with Ceylon, and at the entrance to the city there is even a monument in the form of a huge samovar. Not far from the city, in the mountain Gaftonic forests are therapeutic thermal springs Istisu, water from there is used for curative and recreational purposes. The coastal town is also famous for its extraordinary cuisine. One of the main local dishes is “levenghi” – fowl or fish stuffed with nuts and alicha paste, it is worth to try kebab from fish, eggs with greens “kyukyu”. Also, thanks to the subtropical climate, here ripen magnificent tangerines, oranges, lemons and grapefruit.
